Objective: Evaluate the dynamics of forests subjected to traditional exploitation or using reduced impact techniques 20 years after intervention in Eastern Amazon.
Experiment description: In 1993, three split plot random blocks were established in areas for traditional harvest, reduced impact harvest and no exploitation (control). Within each 24.5 ha block (350 m x 700 m) we established 49 0.5 ha plots (50 m x 100 m). Another 5.25 ha split plot (75 m x 700 m) was established in each block.
Ongoing evaluations: Periodical Annual Increment (PAI) and Current Annual Increment (CAI) in DBH, volume and basal area; mortality and recruitment; diversity indexes; growth modeling; Carbon stock dynamics.
