Objectives

Verify the cacao-AFS and Pasture contribution to native trees conservation. Identify the social and economic benefits of cacao-AFS and livestock, as its complementarity as sustainable livelihoods.

Experiment Description

We search to ask three main questions: (1) what are the advantages and disadvantages of cacao-AFS and livestock in the approach of sustainable livelihoods for family farming?; (2) What is the financial return of cacao-AFS and livestock?; (3) How the cacao-AFS and pasture can conserve the regional native tree species?

Ongoing Evaluations

The field data collection include 48 plots per treatment (cacao-AFS and Pasture, total sample of 2.4 ha) to structure and composition of arborous vegetation, and 45 interview scripts to sustainable livelihoods approach. We are also working with botanical identification, data processing and analysis.
