Tropical forest biomass is related to several ecological processes and, in some cases, to its potential for biodiversity conservation. However, this attribute can be affected by several local factors (forest typology, species composition, previous land use, soil attributes) and landscape (anthropogenic use of the surroundings, proximity to forest fragments and watercourses). In this study we will map the biomass of forests in different landscapes of the state of São Paulo and identify the factors that affect the biomass, and consequently the carbon stocks, of these forests.
